The Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (JASN) is published by the American Society of Nephrology (ASN). It disseminates impactful research to advance the understanding and treatment of kidney diseases, encompassing physiology, pathobiology, and human-centered care.

JASN publishes original research that advances the comprehension and management of kidney disease through laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations. Featured sections include:

  • "Designing Clinical Trials" – focusing on principles of clinical trial design in kidney disease research.
  • "Innovators' Corner" – highlighting novel targets, biomarkers, and devices in nephrology.
  • "Perspective in Clinical Nephrology" – providing timely reviews on diagnostic tests and treatments for kidney diseases or their complications.
  • "Mechanisms of Kidney Disease" – exploring the pathophysiology, systemic effects, and therapeutic implications of kidney disorders.

JASN also publishes the ASN Kidney Health Guidelines, which aim to assist clinicians in interpreting evolving scientific evidence and integrating it into practice by addressing key issues faced by kidney care teams.

JASN features highly competitive original manuscripts, concise reviews, and special articles in both basic and clinical sciences relevant to the broad discipline of nephrology. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to: cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, cellular and transport physiology, hemodynamics and vascular regulation, immunology and pathology, pathophysiology of kidney disease and progression, mineral metabolism and bone disorders, clinical nephrology, and epidemiology.
