Borrowing/Returning/Renewal

1. Borrowing and Returning

(1) Books can be borrowed with a valid Southern Medical University borrowing card. The borrowing period for new books is two weeks, and for other books, it is two months.

(2) Newspapers, periodicals, special collections, theses, and reference books are for in-library use only and cannot be borrowed.

(3) The borrowing and returning procedures can be handled manually at the borrowing and returning center, or readers can use the self-service borrowing/returning equipment. The screen will display the due date or the reader's borrowing information, or readers can check their status through "My Library."

2. Renewal

(1) Online Renewal: Log in to "My Library" using your account credentials. Click on "Current Loans" to view all items you have borrowed. Click the green "Renew" button next to the item you wish to renew to complete the process.

(2) In-person Renewal at the Library:  Bring the physical items to the library service desk for staff-assisted renewal.

(3) Renewal Rules: Items can only be renewed within 10 days of their due date. For example, if a book is due on the 30th, it can be renewed on or after the 20th.
* Each eligible item can be renewed once.
* The standard renewal period is one month.
New books acquired in the current calendar year can be renewed once for a period of two weeks.

3. Conditions Under Which Renewal Is Not Allowed 

(1) Books that are overdue cannot be renewed.

(2) Books that have been reserved by other readers cannot be renewed.
