JoVE is the world’s first peer-reviewed video journal (launched Oct 2006), dedicated to presenting research procedures and results in biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, and related fields through video articles. It is 100% peer-reviewed and indexed by PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Citation Index (SCI), Scopus, Chemical Abstracts, and SciFinder.

As of 2023, JoVE publishes 13 subject collections with 18,000+ experimental videos and 16,000+ accompanying articles, spanning life sciences, medicine, physics, chemistry, environmental science, and more. Videos originate from laboratories at leading institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Yale, UC Berkeley, and Columbia. JoVE combines multiple media formats to convey complex experimental details clearly and intuitively. It is issued monthly (~70 videos per issue; each video paired with an article), with daily updates and backfiles to 2006.
