In accordance with the Ministry of Education's guidelines on promoting the development, application, and management of online open courses in higher education institutions, 801 courses—including Peking University's "MOOCs Exploration"—have been officially recognized as 2018 National Top-Quality Online Open Courses. These courses were nominated by provincial education authorities, relevant national departments, and directly affiliated universities, and were selected through expert review and public consultation.

This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to implementing the spirit of the National Education Conference, deepening higher education reform, enhancing teaching quality, and promoting educational equity. It forms a key part of China’s “Golden Course” development plan and the “Double Ten-Thousand Plan” for building first-class undergraduate programs.

The Ministry of Education will continue to monitor and evaluate the operation, application, and effectiveness of these courses through usage statistics, periodic reviews, and public feedback. Evaluation results and course performance data will be published on the official National Top-Quality Online Open Courses portal.
