What to do if I lose borrowed materials

If an item is lost, borrowers are liable for charges incurred to replace the item. A borrower may replace lost materials with copies acceptable to the lending library. Arrangements should be made with the lending library before a replacement is purchased.

The lost item as book should be replaced by the same version (published in the same day and edition) or the latest version with the same category and title approved by the supervisor, both with a processing fee of 5 Yuan. The lost item as journal can be only replaced by the same version.

If you fail to buy the versions as that of the lost materials, you are required to give compensation to the library. The following is the replacement cost:

1.  General books:

1.1  Books published within 5 years:

Single version: 6 times the original price

2-5 copies: 5 times the original price

More than 5 copies: 3 times the original price

Books with a price under 1 Yuan: 10 Yuan for each

1.2  Books published 5 years ago:

The fine of books published 5 years ago is 4 times more than that of books published within 5 years.

2.  Multivolume work: 3 times the original price.

3.  Journals: 2 times the original annual price.

4.  Foreign books:

4.1  Photocopies: 2 times the original annual price.

4.2  Original edition: 2 times the original annual price. (Notes: foreign currency is considered best for cost if the book was bought via foreign currency; RMB may be accepted if the original price of the book is exchanged to RMB according to the latest currency exchange rate, with 5% of the original price for processing fees.)
